Grange Fell - Sun 25th Feb 2018

Another beautiful day in the lakes, sun was out and most of the snow was melted on the lower fells at least so we drove our to Borrowdale with the intention of doing Grange fell and Castle Crag. We parked in the Scafell hotel car park and set off up an easy path towards Watendlath tarn before eventually branching left up to the rocky summit of Grange Fell.
So far, so good and we did consider going back the same way (which in hindsight would've been a much better idea!) Instead, we dropped down into the woods but somehow took the a slightly wrong path and spent ages clambering down over fallen trees and rocks until we regained our way onto the very steep (and still pretty icy) path down. Our knees were killing us by the time we got back down to the road so we decided to leave Castle Crag for another day and had a visit to the Bowder Stone instead...somewhere i've meant to visit for ages but never quite got round to seeing before.
Castle Crag would have to wait for another day...
