Gowbarrow Fell/Little Mell Fell - 5th Oct 2016

So after Bakestall we drove over to Troutbeck and parked on the roadside at the Hause just opposite the path up to Little Mell Fell. We decided we'd go do Gowbarrow Fell first though and followed a meandering path along the edge of the forest and up onto the summit cairn of Gowbarrow. Again it was a beautiful day and a lovely walk but we were getting a bit tired and the walk turned out to be a bit longer than we were anticipating! We'd kind of assumed because we were doing 3 little Wainwrights today we'd be back a lot sooner and consequently hadn't brought any food with us - not a great idea and i'll make sure next time I always have some snacks no matter where we're going! We passed some National Trust volunteers doing a great job of repairing the paths on the way round - they really are fantastic giving up their time!
We had a bit of a trudge on the road on the way back to the van and energy levels were definitely flagging as we dragged ourselves up the quick steep path onto the summit of Little Mell Fell. Fortunately it was really easy and we were up and down in no time and glad to get back to Keswick to put our feet up after another fantastic day on the fells!
