Dales Way - Day 3 (Monday 25th April) Nethergill Farm to Dent - 16 miles

Wake up early after a pretty rubbish night's sleep where i spent most of it sliding down my roll mat and then trying to clamber back up! We get the tent packed up, luckily it's another sunny morning and have our porridge pots for breakfast - which are surprisingly nice! There's been a few lambs born in the night and we go and have a look at them and chat to one of the B&B guests, his little boy is having a great holiday helping with the lambs and collecting the eggs for breakfast! We settle up, at £3 each a night it's by far the cheapest stop on our trip and actually one of the most enjoyable! My feet still feel sore from yesterday and we've not even set off yet! hope they hold out 'til Dent!

We set off along the farm track and head steadily upwards across moorland towards Cam houses, we can see Ingleborough in the distance and it's actually a nice change of scenery after all the riverside walking we've done the last couple of days! We head through the farm at Cam houses and at some point not long afterwards take a wrong turning, ending up on a track lower down than Cam high road, we end up heading straight up the hill and over a fence to get back on the track and have to go back on ourselves to reach the cairn, the highest point on the dales way!

From here it's a steady walk on the track down towards Ribblesdale, there are great views of the Yorkshire 3 peaks:Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen-y-ghent and of the Ribblehead viaduct in the distance. We stop for a sandwich at the footbridge and dip our feet in the river to cool them down a bit before heading off across the road and back onto moorland on the other side.
The next stage of the walk seems to go on forever, we bump into a couple doing the walk in the opposite direction, they seem just about as knackered and fed up as us at this moment! Eventually we come out onto the road and head down under Dent head viaduct before more road walking and another stop by the river to dip our feet. We stop off at the Sportsman's Inn at Cow Dub for a glass of pop before more road walking onto Little Town where you follow the track eventually along the river into Dent.

We were absolutely overjoyed when we finally saw the sign for Dent, this has seemed like a very long day, the amount of road walking, in particular has made it very hard on our feet!
We head straight to the pub for a pint before going to find our campsite for the night, High Laning. After a wrong turn and a trip up to the other camp site in town we finally make it to our site and find it to be a nice little site with good amenities. We quickly get our tent up and have hot showers (chris is outraged that 20p gets you 4mins of hot water in the ladies but only 3mins in the mens!) Then it's into town to the sun inn for a couple of drinks where they very kindly let us charge up our phones before heading to the george and dragon for a distinctly average tea! After that it's back to the campsite for an unheard of late night of 10 o'clock! Rock and roll!!
