After a much needed shower and change and sorting out doing our washing, we venture out into Shap which is basically one long road - it's not very inspiring, especially after the lovely lake district towns we've passed through but everyone is friendly enough and after the obligatory pint in the Bulls head we end up walking the full length of town and back to get some food at the Greyhound pub, which is nice enough but not sure it's worth the extra mile or so we added on to today's walking! Go to bed absolutely exhausted and a little bit nervous about the 21 miler that lies ahead of us tomorrow!
From there we make our way down towards the edge of Haweswater and the sun even comes out in time for us to have a picnic at the water's edge! It's a long and pretty uninspiring walk around Haweswater and then through lots of fields which seem to go forever until we finally catch sight of Shap abbey in the distance and we manage to hobble into Shap with aching feet and find our accommodation for the night, New Ing Lodge. Luckily it's one of the first buildings as we arrive in Shap, i don't think i could've walked another step today! So that's it, we've walked right across the lake district which is an achievement in itself really but we'll try not to get too cocky - there's still a long way to go 'til Robin Hood's Bay! And it hasn't even rained once! (yet!)
