Coast to Coast Day 2 - (Mon 11th May) - Low Cock How to Stonethwaite (15.5 miles)

We decide to take the route around the north side of the lake, mainly because it was recommended as a more scenic walk by the lady at Low Cock How and it turns out to be a good decision as its a very enjoyable walk around Ennerdale Water.  The same, however cannot be said for the next section of the walk, through the forest section to Black Sail youth hostel! It is a real slog, one of the most boring sections of the entire coast to coast and where the weight of our backpacks seems to get heavier by the minute!  It was a massive relief when we finally caught sight of Black Sail in the distance and collapsed on the bench outside!

After breakfast, we pack up the tent and walk the mile along the roadside into Ennerdale bridge, it's another glorious sunny day and we set off in high spirits (albeit with slightly aching muscles from the previous days walking!)  We stop off at the Shepherd's Arms to pick up our packed lunch and then its onto the edge of Ennerdale Water to really begin the day's walk.
