Coast to Coast Day 2 - (Mon 11th May) - Low Cock How to Stonethwaite (15.5 miles)

Remember i said we'd never tried out our tent before? Well after a terrible nights sleep where we realised that although the tent was supposed to be a two man, it really wasn't...we knew we'd have to change our plans somewhat!  I'd bought the tent, a coleman Rigel X2 primarily because of the weight, it was super light, weighing less than 1 kilo, but it really wasn't big enough for us both never mind our rucksacks (luckily there was a shed at the farm where we could store our gear!)  Added to that it was a single skin tent so although we had perfect weather we still woke up soaking wet due to the condensation.  On reflection it would've been worth carrying a bit of extra weight for a comfy nights sleep, but hey, it was a massive learning curve for us both and theres plenty we'd do differently next time...thats all part of the fun!!  Luckily we were revived by a fantastic breakfast at the farm and soon had our gear packed up and were off on our second day of walking, our first in lakeland proper!
