Pennine Way day 3(sun 20th april) - Marsden to Hebden Bridge(15 miles)

We set off bright and early after a good nights sleep and find todays walking pretty easy going after the last couple of days, it's not the most inspiring days walk especially as the weather isn't great so we don't get much in the way of views for the first couple of hours.
We head up onto Millstone edge, mostly along paths which makes route finding pretty straight forward and eventually head over the bridge crossing the M62- where a P&O van honks at us halfway across and nearly makes me jump out of my skin!! Not good for someone who struggles with heights!
Once again most of the boggier bits have been slabbed which makes it easy going and means we've hardly needed to look at the maps at all.
After Blackstone Edge we head down to the road and arrive at the White House pub around lunchtime and decide to abandon our sandwiches and get some hot food and enjoy the roaring fires for a while. We get chatting with a couple who we've passed a couple of times who are doing the PW in 16 days and who we will bump into several times along the way.  We don't linger too long, it would be very easy to get too comfortable and not want to get going again!

After we leave the pub we follow paths alongside several reservoirs which again is easy walking and enjoyable enough before heading up onto Coldwell Hill along more slabbed paving where Stoodley pike is visible in the distance.
It's at this point that i manage to do something to my heel, i'm still not sure what exactly but i had a similar thing on the coast to coast (although much later on in that walk) - it really hurt to put any weight on it but there wasn't much we could do and luckily we weren't far off Hebden bridge! We headed up to Stoodley pike monument and then down through fields and along the canal towpath into Hebden Bridge.  I practically hobbled into town about 4 o'clock and we sat and had a swift half outside a pub before heading to the White Lion where we'd be staying for the night.

Chris' dad came to meet us for a couple of drinks and then we had a hearty meal at the pub before turning in for the night.
We've not made it past 9 o'clock yet, must be all the fresh air!!
