Wake up a bit achey from yesterdays fall but not too bad and eager to get going to Bellingham, after another good breakfast we set off about 10 and follow the wall along to Rapishaw gap where we turn off towards Wark forest. The first part is through several boggy fields, which we're used to by now and my brasher boots have held up brilliantly!
For the most part the day continues through forest tracks, some of which turn into an obstacle course trying to cling onto branches and swing across the really boggy bits! We see a deer at one point which is lovely and we continue through the forests before heading through country lanes and fields and finally up to Shitlington crags where we can see Bellingham below. We head straight to the cheviot hotel where we're staying and stash our muddy boots in the drying room before a few drinks in the bar and a much needed bubble bath!
We eat in the pub restaurant before going to bed after a pleasant if unremarkable day. It does feel like the end is in sight now, although we still have the final days epic 27 miles to look forward to!
