We recently went back and finished this walk, Route 18 from the Stuart Marshall book. This time doing Bow Fell, Esk Pike and Rossett Pike. It should have been 10 miles and 3400 feet of ascent, but yet again we did our usual trick of getting a bit lost and adding on a couple of extra miles!! We took a wrong turning after the footbridge at Hell Gill and ended up further back than we should have, taking in Crinkle Crags again! From there we carried on past Three Tarns and up to the summit of Bow Fell, across Ore Gap and then up to the summit of Esk Pike. At some point after this we managed to get lost again and thought we'd done Rossett Pike before getting our bearings back when we reached Angle Tarn and realising it was still to do!! Little bit soul destroying when you think you've already finished but it wasn't a difficult one and we reached the summit before heading back down Stake Pass and back to the campsite. Anyway, it was a great walk and Bow Fell in particular was a highlight even if we did get a bit lost! Also worth noting that we stayed at the National Trust campsite at Great Langdale which is a lovely site - definitely recommended, with a couple of great pubs nearby, particularly the Sticklebarn Tavern for a well earned post walk pint!
