This May day bank holiday we decided to go camping in the lakes despite the rain and it turned out to be a great weekend! Again, we didn't manage to finish the walk we'd initially decided to do, due in part to setting off late, and also to it being a bit harder than we'd anticipated! Still, it's a good excuse to come back and finish it at a later date! We did (half of) The Newlands Watershed (route 27 in the Stuart Marshall book) and took in Cat Bells, Maiden Moor, High Spy, Dale Head, Hindscarth and Robinson...the whole walk in the book should have been 15 miles but because of the extra walk to and from keswick and also the fact that we walked back along the road after coming down from Moss Force it ended up being just over 20 miles!! We were both a little worse for wear by the end of it, but enjoyed a well-deserved pint (or two!) at the end of the day which helped make it all worthwhile!!
