Coast to Coast Day 14 - (Sat 23rd May) Grosmont to Robin Hood's Bay(15.5 miles)

PS - I'd just like to point out that these are Chris' feet and not mine!!

After a celebratory pint in the Wainwright's bar at the Bay hotel and the signing of the Coast to Coast visitors book which they keep behind the bar, we stop for fish and chips before finally heading home. I still can't quite believe we actually did it, it was one of the best things we've ever done and i would love to do it again one day but in the meantime we'll get back to working our way through all the other 'Wainwright" walks and cherish the memories that we have from our little adventure!

I'd forgotten it was still the bank holiday and it's absolutely packed with holiday-makers as we walk the steep hill down to the Bay hotel and go through the rituals of dipping our boots into the sea and throwing away the pebbles that we've carried all the way from St. Bees. I have to say it was quite an emotional moment, much more so than i'd expected. It felt amazing to actually be standing here after achieving our goal but also really sad that it had to end. I can see why some people just turn around and go back the other way!!

We finally arrive at the coastal path and it's a great feeling to see the sea again after 14 days, but it's still a couple of miles along the track before we see the red tiled roofs of Robin Hood's Bay in the distance!
