So we made it, although it's still touch and go whether we might have to stay another day in Grasmere but we'll wait until the morning to decide. Putting the bag on the Packhorse van was definitely a good move, we should have done it right from the start really, it made the day's walking enjoyable rather than feeling like we were on a route march! So after a bit of a rest, we have some food at the red lion and a much deserved pint before calling home to let everyone know we're still alive!
