So, after driving up to the lakes yesterday in the pouring rain, and quietly regretting our decision to camp some of the trip rather than staying in B&B's, it was a lovely surprise to wake up to bright sunshine for our first day of the walk! Chris dad, Tim had driven us up to St. Bees and after a few drinks at the aptly named Coast to coast bar at the Manor hotel, he waved us off and we checked into our accommodation for the night, Fairladies barn, which turned out to be lovely and they set us up for the day with a great breakfast and a nice packed lunch.
So, its off down to the sea to dip our boots and choose a pebble each which we'll carry all the way to Robin Hood's Bay! We've decided to carry all our stuff with us rather than use the baggage services, including tent, sleeping bags etc and it doesn't take long before we're having second thoughts!!
