While i'm feeling lots better, Chris is really struggling today, a combination of the heat and his heavy backpack i think, i'm very pleased we've decided to put our packs on the sherpavan for 4 of the longer days so at least that's something to look forward to in a couple of days time. We head up towards Jackdaw Hill and then onto Ling Gill bridge before heading onto the Cam High Road - crossing the path of the Dales way which we did a few years ago…the pennine way actually crosses all of our previous long distance walks at some point which just makes you realise how long it is!
It's a bit cooler than earlier on now and we're both feeling pretty good, we stop for a picnic on the Cam high road cairn before heading up on a gradual uphill path past Dodd fell above the valley of Snaizeholme, which is all pretty easy walking. We finally head down off Rottenstone hill into the little market town at Hawes, which actually feels like a bit of a metropolis after some of the places we've stayed so far. We're staying at the Bulls head hotel where we're in the cosy little basement room and we have a bit of a nap before going out to meet some more of our friends who've decided to come and see us on our little adventure! We have a few drinks and a massive dinner(and pudding!) at the White Hart before they head home and we go to bed at half ten(latest night so far!!) after what has been a really enjoyable days walking.
